Thorncliffe bank thrilling descent 🤗
One of the best around!
That looked a pretty savage day out, think Alex would want all the food after that.
Kindly can you also share how to get the original fox suspension as many are fake and you want a good investment in your bike so if there any link you could share
Your video inspired me to create my own one iam fighting between trek and specialized to build one .. trek said they couldn't build and specialized said that this idea will change the form and balance of mtb but who care it looks badass 😎
Very enjoyable video, Chris. thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!

Your mate did alright in the end, after that dire prediction of blowing up after 30k. Good way to spend the solstice though, pretty views from up there. Thanks for the doggo at the end, funny little mutant he was and so glad to be reunited.
He did fantastic. Never doubted it
We've all been there..... TIMBER 😉🚴
Littering with thrown banana skin not good😢
Noo don't throw the banana peel please 😭
Rowsley Bar is also great climb with switchbacks. Its located between bakewell and matlock.
Oh yeah that’s a fantastic edition
Great to see a video on the routes I often ride and suffer :) Next time maybe include Goytt valley and Cat and the fiddle. P.S. I am guilty of doing it the past but apparently you are not supposed to throw banana peals in the hedges.
Yeah I don’t think he realised that to be fair
GCN, cam Jeffers and others have ridden up that climb when it's been closed. great effort but you chickened out on that climb lol
Thanks for the info. It’s closed for a reason and we discussed that it’s probably not wise to when there’s roadworks happening on it at the moment. We checked. Also nothing wrong with changing plans. It’s not chickening out as you put it. Do what you want, ride what you like but don’t cuss others for their choices
@@ChrisHallRides it's all good I wasn't cussing you out as you put it I was just making a joke as I dont know anyone that would even try that climb at 35%. Change is good on a ride your right its all adaptive thats the world we live in.
No, you shouldn't. 1X transmissions are the incarnation of marketing w*nk. They offer zero benefit, they just are a novelty that has the added bonus for manufacturers that they can sell you less for more money. And the ironic part is, that we've been there. 1) 1x transmissions are a tad lighter, but the weight savings are absolutely inconsequential. It's like having your keys on you or not. Head over to bike calculator if you don't believe me. 2) 1x transmissions have abysmal efficiency, due to the extreme chain lines. 3) 1x transmissions offer insufficient gearing for all but the most specialized use cases. They can either go fast but not uphil, or the can go uphil but not fast. Or they can't do either. 4) 1x transmissions offer no way of "dialing it in", since you are stuck with the chain ring you have and that's it. 5) 1x transmissions force you to go through EVERY. FING. GEAR. EVERY. FING. TIME. It's absolutely annoying, it's slow, it put's a ton of wear on the parts. I have both, and it's just no comparison. This is not news. 1xs always have been limited by physics (derailleur size, chain line, number of available gears), and the 2x and 3x literally were invented to overcome those shortcomings. There is absolutely no reason to go back.
Some stunning bikes. That chap Luke looks like he rides with really narrow bars, either that or the perspective and the angle.
Luke is an ex pro rugby player so he’s broad but he doesn’t ride wide bars
Trouble at Mill 😉
Morning Chris, another grand day out with good people good craic, good cake and splendid UK weather once again ! 😅.....BTW Chris still on track for the 24 hr national TT ? Possible video to follow? 🙂
Hopefully. Things have been a bit up and down lately to be honest but I’ll try my best. I don’t think I’ll be where I’d like to be
@ChrisHallRides Hi Chris.....you might just surprise yourself 👍. You're one tough cookie 🍪 and Im certain you'll have a grand 24 hr day in the saddle 👌. Enjoy your week ahead 🍻
Jolly good. Tailwind, friends, cake, a sheep dog, dinosaurs, single track, Scottish country side: what more could you pack in? Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I designed the course - thank you so much for the compliments and thanks so much for keeping that smile. See you for Raiders Gravel.
Awesome work designing that course too then! Unfortunately I can’t make Raiders this year. Maybe next!
I can’t help but feel jealous of the weather you guys have. It was 32C yesterday morning at 4:30 am when I started my ride. I love cycling ❤.
Its starting to warm up a bit here finally

You should come over to the Black Forrest, in Germany. Epic riding over here, and "home" to Jan Ulrich. 😊💪🏻
Electronic front derailleur, mechanical rear?
...does it have stops for a mechanical front derailleur?
Electronic groupset, both front and rear mech are GRX di2
Yes
@@ChrisHallRides does it have stops for a mechanical front derailleur? I think you may have already answered this - but just want to be sure!
Love cycling 😂
😂
Another big day out, did look quite earie in the mist.
Totally!
1x all the way. Lighter, less moving parts, less tuning, less maintenance and service, lighter weight. Just less can go wrong. As a PT mechanic, sure I can make more when customers bring in 2x and 3x but many riders cross chain all the time and don’t understand and expect zero noise when the chain is at its extreme angles.
You canna beat tablet!
for sure!
That looked like a good time for sure. Thanks for the video and take care, Al
It was!
More Jess (and George) content, whenever feasible please; it's been way too long. Also, Katie Kookaburra would've burst into giggles at that mini sheep stampede.

Didn't fancy the one day? I did it a couple of years ago and the road climbs after Kielder are absolute killers. You think you've broken the back and then you get hit with steep climb after steep climb before starting to descend to the coast.
Tailfin asked me to take part in the 2 day so I could be around at the campsite this year. Maybe the 1 day next year!
I can’t recall that many gates 😂 Just order a nice box from Styrkr using the code, lovely “Snickers” bar for breakfast. Cheers 🎉
Great places to ride. So here in NW Coast of Ireland ( Donegal) it is wet and windy..much like the past few months. We get one nice day, then wake up next day to low cloud, cold, wet. But great places to ride bikes. Wild Atlantic Way certainly worth a visit if you ever feel inclined. Thank goodness for modern thermal, wet weather type gear. After being a roadie for decades, with bits of mountain biking here and there.Past few years very much enjoy off road, small back road type gravel bike riding😊 As always, thank you for your content.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it :)
Chris, great review and many thanks. I am torn between this bike and the Argon 18 Kyrpton Pro. Now you have ridden extensively on both which one would you recommend? How do they compare on the road, which is 'faster'. This is for UK's potholed roads specifically for audax long distance rides principally? I really like the non integrated cables in the Argon 18 but this bike does look great also. Many thanks in advance
They are both fantastic bikes but theres a few things for me personally which make me swing more to the Krypton Pro, namely a threaded BB, frame storage, tyre clearance and not fully integrated cables. The cabling is still really neat but it's way easier to maintain and chain things if you need to. I also think the geometry for the Krypton is probably what more people need. The caledonia yes is more relaxed than many of the Cervelo range but it is still a race bike used at Paris Roubaix so it does still feel a a bit racy if thats your thing. One more thing to mention is the Caledonia has been out for a LONG time now. I have no idea if they are going to update it or not but I think the Soloist has taken it's place now a bit more. (a bit more racy geo but doesn't have all the fender mounts. It's what the pros used at Roubaix this year.) Faster is such an pretty much impossible to say. They are both fantastic bikes. They weigh pretty similar in terms of real world weights (not listed weights on a website) that I have found for both but if you want a lightweight bike you shouldn't really be looking for a more all round bike but more of a hill climb bike like a SUM, R5, Addict, etc etc. For what I do, the Krypron is a fantastic comfortable training partner and I used it at a road ultra in January, then a training camp with semi pro riders a week later and it performed fantastic across both. I love the versatility to use it for gravel if wanted and needed and I think the internal frame storage is smart in keeping essential repair tools in one location, instead of in the depths of a saddle bag when on a long ride. Hopefully that helps somewhat? I've done plenty of ride reviews of the Krypton Pro too on this channel.
Love it! Keep it going 🐐
Thanks so much
I binge watch all 5 videos. The views are stunning Chris, thanks for showing this awesome ride. Your casual storytelling sets you apart from the others. 🫡
Thanks so much I appreciate you saying that
Wait, is your yelling out “slug” like yelling out “snake”…? 😂
